Giants Crawl Back to Win
5/16/13
Giants @ Rockies
Sorry I have taken so long to write these. With graduation and family in town it was a VERY busy weekend. Anyway this was the first game for the Rockies back at Coors and man was it a good one.
Todd Father signed on the wall and we had a good conversation. Thanks Todd for signing!
Jersey Geoff won the first 20 Days of Winner that the Rockies were having and so this is him presenting the line up to the Umpires during the game! Pretty sweet!
On the mound for the Rockies was Jhoulys Chacin and on the mound for the Giants was Matt Cain. I’m not sure how many of you follow Matt Cain but he has been a great pitcher. He has thrown great through the last few years but this years has been very shaky for him. It started out like a pitching duel in the first inning and a half until Todd Helton belted a two-run homerun to right field. 0-2 Rockies!
On the next pitch Nolan Arenado decided that it was his turn and hit a solo shot to left center field making the score 0-4. Giants went silent in the 3rd and the Rockies were able to strike again by a three run homer by the Baby Bull Wilin Rosario.
Heading into the 4th Rockies on top by 6. In the 4th though Chacin fell apart and gave up 5 runs to the Giants making it 5-6 Rockies will on top.
The rest of the game was rather boring because the Rockies gave up the lead and never scored again. The Giants ended up taking this one 8-6.
It was very disappointing seeing the Rockies loss this one but like they say you can’t win them all. Matt Cain got the W and Chacin got the L but it definitely should have been the other way around. This was a tough one to watch but they get better as the homestand progresses!
This is a short one but gets the point across!

See ya around Coors!
Day 1: Fun in the Sun
We started the morning off in Goodyear at the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds training facility. The Indian’s and Red’s have a great facility and pretty good access as well.
We showed up around 8:30 since the gates open at 9:00 to get into the facility. We stopped at the Indians first because former Rockies player Jason Giambi was at camp with them. The Indians team has changed and it seems like it is going to be a good team. Some of the players they acquired this off season were Nick Swisher, Jason Giambi, and Drew Stubbs. Hopefully all will be able to produce and they have a decent team. Not only did they pick up players they got a new manager… Terry Francona. He was a former manager of the ’04 & ’07 World Series Boston Red Sox. It will be interesting where he takes this team. Good Luck to them.
Any who we saw G-man and he came back and signed for all of us. He signed my 2012 team bat along with 8 cards… YES 8 cards. He was amazing taking the time to talk to us and wish us the best and us wishing him the same thing. All the best to Jason and we hope to see him again one day. Michael Brantley, Drew Stubbs, and Mike Aviles also signed a card for me.
After the Indian’s were done we walked over to the Reds camp to see who we could get.
There camp was set up the same and we did not get anything. I did however talk to a man on the other side of the fence while they were hitting batting practice. Turns out it was Ellis Burks! He is coming back by the way on July 28th for his bobble head giveaway day!
After the Red’s were done hitting BP we headed inside to see what graphs we could get. The game we went to was the Oakland Athletics @ Cincinnati Reds. We decided to stand on the reds side and got a few autographs.
Thanks to Jared’s help I ended up getting 2 Mat Latos cards, 2 Sean Marshall cards, 1 Brandon Phillips card and photo, and 2 Ellis Burks cards. We stayed through the 7th inning then headed to Scottsdale to see the Rockies @ Giants.
Once we got to the game Jared and I headed down to the wall to see what we could get. The guys were just getting there so we talked to them as they walked by. Most o the players said hey and that they would be back out to sign. A few minutes later Tanya showed up (She had just drove in from CO) and hung out on the wall with us.
The auto graphs that I got that night ended up being:
Charlie Culberson: 2012 Team Bat
Chris “Nelly” Nelson: 2013 Team Helmet
Dante Bichette: 2013 Team Helmet
Jerry Weinstein: 2013 Team Helmet
Rex Brothers: 2013 Team Helmet
Charlie Blackmon: 2013 Team Helmet
Michael Cuddyer: 2013 Team Helmet
Jim Wright: 2013 Team Helmet
Josh Rutledge: Team Helmet
Todd Helton: Lithogram
Carlos Gonzalez: Lithogram

The Rockies won this game 10 to 4 over the Giants.

These guys were Colorado fans that took our picture and talked with them about the team for a few minutes. Here is your shout out guys!

Day 1 autographs
All in all it was a great first day of Spring Training! That is all I have for now. Watch out for Day 2 which is coming soon to a computer near you!

Sunday Graphin Fillin the Bat
8/5/12
Giants @ Rockies
Wow was this a great game for autographs! Players designated for autographs for Autograph Sunday were Michael Cuddyer, Jordan Pacheco, Josh Rutledge, and Christian Friedrich.
I started with Michael Cuddyer and got my bat signed then went to Friedrich and got my bat and Locker tag signed by him thanks to the help of Rox Addict. After getting Friedrich I went down to where the pitchers were warming up and got Alex White and coach Jim Wright. I hung out with Gary X and his daughter A , Rox Addict, and Eric down on the wall. There is where we scored.
I ended up getting Vinny Castilla and Juan Nicasio on my bat and also got Nicasio on my locker tag!
We also ended up getting DJ LaMahieu on both, Bo McLaughlin on my bat, Jon Herrera on both, and Eric Young Jr on both! If you ask me that is a pretty good day with graphs and it was totally worth it!
The Rockies were rocked in this one 8-3 and ended up getting swept by the Giants. Sorry this was so late being posted but game tomorrow and Tuesday and ending the week with games on Thursday and Friday!

McBride Debut in Loss to Giants
8/4/2012
Giants @ Rockies Game 2
This was another early afternoon at the ballpark. I went to the game with my parents and my little cousin which was really fun. WE went down early for batting practice but walked away with no balls, yet again. This was the third game in a row that I missed out on baseballs which is really starting to hurt me in the fact that I’m running out of baseballs for autographs.
After BP we headed over to the wall to get some autographs. I had my cousin with me so I tried to get her as many autographs as possible. She did end up getting Jonny Herrera and Josh Rutledge but we will slowly have to work on her ball and try to get more autographs.
This was the MLB debut for Matt McBride and so I was trying to get his autographs but didn’t end up getting him.
We headed up to our seats and watched the game. It was a shaky start for Francis who gave up 2 runs right away but settled down and sadly he only lasted 3 and 2/3rd innings and gave up 6 runs.
Josh Roenicke came in and pitched 3 and 1/3rd scoreless innings which has been great because he has been solid on most of his outings.
The Rockies bats started to come alive in the 6th inning when Josh Rutledge homered giving the Rockies their first run of the night. In the 7th McBride doubled which gave the Rockies another run and Jonny Herrera singled as the next batter scoring McBride.
The rest of the game was a complete mess and the Giants took advantage of the Rockies pitching and dominated us. The Rockies did end up scoring 3 more runs but compared to there 11 it wasn’t enough.

Matt McBride did have a good Debut going 2/4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. To me that was a decent debut! Good luck the rest of the season Matt!

My cousin took charge of the camera and so I have to give some of the credit to her for some of these. It was very tough tonight watching the pitching staff fall apart yet again but in the back of my mind I ask myself how much I can handle and take the rest of the season. Either way I will still be there supporting my team and go through the pain just like players.
The Giants take Game 2, 11-6, over the Rockies.

Not Sure What to Name This One
8/3/12
Giants @ Rockies
This is going to be one of the shortest post that I’m going to have. It was just a bad day in general. I showed up early to get graphs and didn’t get any autographs, no balls from BP, and the Rockies got whipped.
Also ended up meeting Jared from Rox Walk Off!
During BP the Rockies hit all around me and same with the Giants. This was the second game that I was shut out of BP balls, which sucked but what are you going to do.
I headed over to get graphs with EB but standing in the second row I didn’t get any. The players to sign were Jordan Pacheco, Josh Rutledge, Todd Helton, Tyler Colvin, and DJ LaMahieu. I did however get Dinger on my team bat which was awesome… because it’s not a team bat without the mascot!
Once the game began I realized that I didn’t have my camera and knew that with the air kind of muggy that my phone would not take good pictures.
It was good to see that we got some runs on the board late in the game but the next inning it didn’t matter. Rosario has come through the last couple of games to get us some runs and he hit a 2 run homerun last night that was hit hard and fast! It seriously was a line shot to left field!
I’m not going to go into much detail because you probably already know that the Rockies got spanked with a final score of 16-4.
I will be at the rest of the game this weekend and hopefully I get to see a win. If you see me around Coors don’t forget to say hey! I saw Cathy last night and helped get her kids some autographs and so I hope that they had a good time!
Don’t forget to pick up the Rockies magazine if you are at the game this month and look at my article!

Opening Day but Where Were the Rockies?
Monday started off early but I think that you know it is going to be a long day but totally worth it. I went to opening day with my dad but met up with the other Rantics for breakfast.
After breakfast at 20th St Café, we decided to walk down 20th to see what was going on. I was told the day before my Marc Stout that Dante Bichette would be signing at 11 am at the Maxx HD sunglasses tent.
We walked over and once we got there we checked out the games and got in line to get autographs from Dante. He showed up early and started to sign right away. I always wanted to meet him but never thought that I was going to get the chance. Well today was my LUCKY day! Dante was very nice signed multiple cards and signed a picture to me and my dad got a ball and picture signed to my mom who is a HUGE Bichette fan.
I had the nerve to give Dante my URL for my blog since my cards are not in yet. So Dante if you are reading this thank you so much for taking pictures with all of us, for signing for all of us, and for taking the time to read this! You Rox!
Then we headed to the Stadium, of course we had to take the picture of Coors Field but there were SOOO many people there it wasn’t even possible to walk around.
As we were walking I saw Purple Vader walking around and knew he would be a cool addition to my blog for opening day, sweet costume but man he must have got hot wearing that helmet.
We knew there would be batting practice so we headed inside. As we got inside we walked down underneath as always and it was like we never left.
Going through the tunnel and being at the field Guthrie was standing there and signed for a guy down in the front row. I chatted with him for a while about his birthday (4/9) and that he pitched very well on Friday in Houston. Very nice guy that I feel will become a fan favorite.
After batting practice was over I headed over to the Rockies dugout with Rockpile and

Morning with Dinger
Rox Addict. When we arrived we saw Gary X and his Daughter A in their normal spots on the wall. This was both their first opening day so they were pretty excited to experience everything! Happy I could help!
I helped Gary get tickets on Saturday when the Rockies decided to sell Rockpile tickets with a raffle. Gary X, A, his wife, and I all went down and picked random wrist bands with 4 numbers on it. The first two were your row number 1-30 and second two was your placement in that line 0-99.
Here is what we came up with:
- A: 0126
- Amy: 0564
- Betty: 2754
- Gary X: 0470
All in all we thought we had pretty good numbers and felt like we had a really good chance in getting picked and being able to buy tickets. Well they did a raffle with the line numbers so they picked all the lines and that was the order you could buy tickets in until tickets ran out. First ball picked… 5! Heck yes, it was my lucky day so then it was waiting time to see if Gary, Betty, and A would be picked to buy tickets. A: 13th line picked, Gary: 2nd to last line picked, Betty: Last line picked. So I was the only one who was able to buy tickets but was a pal and hooked Gary X up since he hooked me up with an awesome logo! They got through 3 ½ lines before they ran out of tickets.
So back to opening day! We waited for the players to come out but they came out a little late and no one signed. I did yell at Bob Apodaca he turned smiled and waved like always. I also yelled at Jordan Pacheco. I’m not sure if he knew it was me but he looked over and I waved with a big smile on my face and he smiled and waved back at me! Made my day!
Jersey Geoff and I decided walk around since no one was signing while they were warming up and they were about to start introductions so we headed up and headed back to my seats.
I was standing above the bullpen and could not get a good picture except from the tv!
The game was not very eventful but Tulo was presented pregame with his Silver Slugger and Gold Glove awards which is not the second year in a row receiving those prestigious awards. Hopefully after this season we will have more guys receiving those along with Tulo. It was a difficult game to watch just because I hate to say it but they looked a little sloppy.
I have faith in this team and know that we can be an amazing team if we work together. I also feel that the pitchers should have more confidence in themselves, they know how to pitch and need to remember that they have some great defense behind them. They also need to get the bats going to get some runs on the board!
That is pretty much Opening Day in a nutshell, but if you have never experienced Opening Day then you should place it on your bucket list because win or lose it is one of the best experiences you will ever endure. This is where I’m ending it for now but next game is Wednesday 4/11 and then hitting up a sky sox game this coming weekend for their opening weekend! Giants win 7-0 and I hope this season won’t blow!
O by the way I’m waiting for my sign to get here to begin Random Rox Talk but it will be here soon so please leave me questions to ask!
