St. Louis Cardinals @ Colorado Rockies
As this series started I felt that the Rockies were going to come in as good contenders against the Former World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals, but then again that was not the case.
I met up with Rachel and we headed up to Coors after parking, once we got inside we found Rox Addict and stood in left center field for batting practice. The Rockies were out for a short amount of time then went in. It was a busy day in the outfield due to the fact that there was a lot more red then purple. St. Louis BP got off to a strong start and they were hitting balls out left and right. I did not get a ball but really didn’t try with all the cardinal fans that were there. Rox Addict did score 2 and Rockpile Ranter also scored a few.
After batting practice ended Rox Addict and I headed over to the wall to meet up with Eric and Rachel to get some autographs. As we stood down their Josh Rutledge, Jordan Pacheco and Todd Helton (Yes I said Todd Helton) all took time to sign a few autographs for fans.
I got Josh to sign my ticket from his MLB debut which was awesome and then Rachel and Eric helped me get Todd Helton sweet spot on a ball and got his Rookie card signed. I seriously was like a little kid in a candy store once Todd signed!
Rachel and I had great team work when Rutledge threw us up a ball and I tipped it with my hat and scooped it underneath us and she bent down and grabbed it! It was awesome teamwork and I let Rachel keep the ball. Right before the game started we headed over to our seats because Rachel had got picked for the Baseball Bonanza game so she had to be in her seat.
Right as we showed up to our seats in left field Carlos Beltran homered right by us to but the Cardinals up 4-0 in the top of the 1st. The Rockies did score in the 1st also with a single by Cargo and double by Cuddy which the score was 4-2. Cardinals scored another in the 2nd to make the score 5-2.
The Rockies weren’t going to go quietly. The bats for both sides were silent until the 6th inning when the Cardinals scored another run but the Rockies came back in the bottom of the 6th with a 3 run homer by Josh Rutledge! Scored at the end of the 6th was 6-5 Cardinals. That was the most damaged the Rockies were going to do against the cards and as close as they were going to get.
The rest of the game belonged to the Cardinals and they scored every inning except the ninth for the rest of the game. In the 7th they scored 3 and in the 8th they scored 2 which made the final score 11-5 until Todd came up and had an RBI in the 9th to make the final score 11-6 Cardinals over Rockies.

2nd 2B for #22
The Cardinals def out played the Rockies which shouldn’t be shocking because if we score we are happy as fans. They put in the effort just couldn’t pull it off. Hopefully they will win the series against the cards but not looking to good as of now.
I just want to take a second and discuss the trade deadline. I was shocked that the Rockies didn’t try to dump more players or try to pick up someone. I do feel that the Rockies are over paying some of the guys and fell we have guys in our minor leagues that would do just as good for less money. That being said we will see what happens and how this team ends up.
This is enough for this game and where I’m going to leave it. Next games are this weekend against the Giants. The goal is to get Scutaro to sign my team stuff so I don’t have to worry about him anymore. Also hitting up Dexter andFfriends tomorrow for my lunch and see who his “friend” is. Watch out for that blog next. Also if you get a chance and are at a Rockies game in August grab a copy of the Rockies magazine and read my article!
