Giants @ Rockies

What a way to end the month than with a Rockies game! I headed to the game early with my dad and we were in line by 1015ish! While waiting in line we saw Adam Ottavino, Wilton Lopez, Jorge De La Rosa, and Yorvit Torrealba. I was able to get a card signed by Wilton and Jorge which was awesome.

While standing in line we found out that the signers were going to be Tyler Chatwood, Corey Dickerson, Matt Belisle, and none other than Troy Tulowitzki. The day had went from good to GREAT! I have been trying to get Tulo on my team helmet since Spring Training but to be able to think about having my helmet complete was amazing! Plus my dad was there and so he got him on a sweet spot ball for me!

Once we got in we got our Larry Walker Bobbleheads and headed to the wall to Tulo’s line. Once we got in line we realized it was family day. Family day is a day that the players are able to have their family there before the game to just hang out.

Once 1240 hit the four players sat down and it was time to sign! I got through Tulo’s line and headed over to Dickerson’s line since I needed him on the helmet as well. I guess I wasn’t lucky enough because I was the next person in line and they cut the line off. It sucked but hey it happens. So then I went and got a place on the wall and got Edwar Cabrerra on the helmet and that was all that signed.

It was a strong start for both starters until the Giants got on the board in the 3rd inning by a solo homerun from Buster Posey.

The Giants were the next to score again in the 5th by scoring 3. Going into the 6th inning it was 4-0, Giants.

The Rockies did strike in the 6th with a run but then the Giants scored in the 7th and the Rockies once more in the 8th. In the 8th Cuddy extended his hitting streak to 27 games.

All in all the Game was not as good as it was on Friday night, but it is baseball.

After the game we headed outback and out back I got Corpas and Dickerson on the helmet which is great! That makes 4 today on the helmet and 3 to go!

Man what a game!

On the mound for the Rockies was Jhoulys Chacin and on the mound for our rivals the Giants was Barry Zito.

Pretty much what sums up the game is HOLY COW CHACIN! He pitched 8 scoreless innings and the Rockies’ offense was producing which put us up early and kept us ahead the whole night!

The Rockies scored first in the bottom of the 1st inning by a double from Carlos Gonzalez which scored DJ who singled to lead off the inning.

In the 3rd inning Michael Cuddyer decided to extend his hitting streak to 25 games by smashing a 2-run homerun to right field making it 3 to 0. The nest batter Wilin Rosario smashed a solo homerun to left field making it 4-0 Rockies!

Just to touch on the subject of the all star game it is coming up and I believe it was the last day to vote for the all-stars. It will be very interesting to see who gets to go and who represents everyone. Hopefully we see a few Rockies!

Anyway this is it for me for this game against the Giants but I will hopefully have Sunday’s game up tomorrow then I will be going to July 3rd and 4th so watch for Fireworks pictures. I also feel that it is the time for another give away. Not sure what I’m going to do yet but it will be soon!

Game 2

WHAT A GAME!

This was so long ago I don’t remember what happened pre-game but on the mound for the Rockies was Jorge De La Rosa and on the mound for the Giants was Madison Bumgarner.

DSCN2790 (640x480)

DSCN2794 (640x480)

The Giants got to work early in the 1st when Buster Posey hit a sac fly to right field which then scored Pablo Sandoval.  The Rockies ended up going 1-2-3 in the first. The Giants scored yet again in the second on a single by Brandon Crawford scoring Brett Pill. A few batters later Marco Scutaro singled which scored Crawford and then Sandoval came up and single which scored Bumgarner.  The Rockies finally got on the board in the bottom of the second by a fielder’s choice ground out by Jordan Pacheco. At the end of two Giants lead Rockies 4-1.

DSCN2797 (640x480)

Jorge did work in the third sitting down the Giants. The Rockies had a little better luck in their half of the third because they ended up scoring 3 runs to tie the game up at 4.

DSCN2799 (640x480)

Obviously the Giants didn’t like that and they got another run in the fourth inning making it 5-4.

DSCN2806 (640x480)

The next run was scored by the Rockies in the bottom of the fifth by a line drive to left field by the baby bull Wilin Rosario, tying it up at 5. This inning kept going and it was very magical for the Rockies.

DSCN2809 (640x480)

DSCN2810 (640x480)

These are the types of innings as a fan you live for! With Carlos Gonzalez on third, Baby Bull on second, and Dj LeMahieu on first Jordan Pacheco was up to bat. On first pitch swinging he drilled a ball 15+ rows in left field for his 1st ever Grand Slam! This was absolutely amazing and you had to be there to feel the intensity. Below is the link to the video so you can watch it for yourself.

DSCN2826 (640x480)

The 7th was a very stressful inning because the Giants came back and scored 3 runs, making it 8-10 Rockies still on top. The next inning the Giants got one more run on a Homerun by Buster Posey making it 9-10.

DSCN2828 (640x480)

DSCN2830 (640x480)

Thankfully that was all that was scored on either side, game over Rockies take this one 9-10.

DSCN2832 (640x480)

The Giants tried to crawl back in it but with Jordie’s granny they just couldn’t complete it.

Congrats to JP on his first ever granny! This is where I’m leaving this one!

Giants @ Rockies

Sorry I have taken so long to write these. With graduation and family in town it was a VERY busy weekend. Anyway this was the first game for the Rockies back at Coors and man was it a good one.

Todd Father signed on the wall and we had a good conversation. Thanks Todd for signing!

Jersey Geoff won the first 20 Days of Winner that the Rockies were having and so this is him presenting the line up to the Umpires during the game! Pretty sweet!

DSCN2761 (640x480)

On the mound for the Rockies was Jhoulys Chacin and on the mound for the Giants was Matt Cain. I’m not sure how many of you follow Matt Cain but he has been a great pitcher. He has thrown great through the last few years but this years has been very shaky for him.  It started out like a pitching duel in the first inning and a half until Todd Helton belted a two-run homerun to right field. 0-2 Rockies!

On the next pitch Nolan Arenado decided that it was his turn and hit a solo shot to left center field making the score 0-4.  Giants went silent in the 3rd and the Rockies were able to strike again by a three run homer by the Baby Bull Wilin Rosario.

DSCN2772 (640x480)

Heading into the 4th Rockies on top by 6. In the 4th though Chacin fell apart and gave up 5 runs to the Giants making it 5-6 Rockies will on top.

DSCN2779 (640x480)

The rest of the game was rather boring because the Rockies gave up the lead and never scored again. The Giants ended up taking this one 8-6.

It was very disappointing seeing the Rockies loss this one but like they say you can’t win them all. Matt Cain got the W and Chacin got the L but it definitely should have been the other way around. This was a tough one to watch but they get better as the homestand progresses!

This is a short one but gets the point across!

Day 1: Fun in the Sun

We started the morning off in Goodyear at the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds training facility. The Indian’s and Red’s have a great facility and pretty good access as well.

IMG_2288 (458x458)

Jared and I

We showed up around 8:30 since the gates open at 9:00 to get into the facility. We stopped at the Indians first because former Rockies player Jason Giambi was at camp with them. The Indians team has changed and it seems like it is going to be a good team.  Some of the players they acquired this off season were Nick Swisher, Jason Giambi, and Drew Stubbs.  Hopefully all will be able to produce and they have a decent team. Not only did they pick up players they got a new manager… Terry Francona.  He was a former manager of the ’04 & ’07 World Series Boston Red Sox. It will be interesting where he takes this team. Good Luck to them.

Any who we saw G-man and he came back and signed for all of us. He signed my 2012 team bat along with 8 cards… YES 8 cards. He was amazing taking the time to talk to us and wish us the best and us wishing him the same thing. All the best to Jason and we hope to see him again one day. Michael Brantley, Drew Stubbs, and Mike Aviles also signed a card for me.

After the Indian’s were done we walked over to the Reds camp to see who we could get.

There camp was set up the same and we did not get anything. I did however talk to a man on the other side of the fence while they were hitting batting practice. Turns out it was Ellis Burks! He is coming back by the way on July 28th for his bobble head giveaway day!

Ellis Burks

After the Red’s were done hitting BP we headed inside to see what graphs we could get. The game we went to was the Oakland Athletics @ Cincinnati Reds.  We decided to stand on the reds side and got a few autographs.

Brandon Phillips and I

Thanks to Jared’s help I ended up getting 2 Mat Latos cards, 2 Sean Marshall cards, 1 Brandon Phillips card and photo, and 2 Ellis Burks cards. We stayed through the 7th inning then headed to Scottsdale to see the Rockies @ Giants.

Once we got to the game Jared and I headed down to the wall to see what we could get. The guys were just getting there so we talked to them as they walked by. Most o the players said hey and that they would be back out to sign.  A few minutes later Tanya showed up (She had just drove in from CO) and hung out on the wall with us.
