Day 3: YIPEEEE!!

IMG_2321 (640x480)

Morning drive to Tempe Diablo

This day we got back on track with autographs but it was a LONG day.

We woke up extremely early at 545-600 am so we could be at the Angels training facility. We were told that some of the players (Hamilton, Trout, and Pujols) get to the stadium early and are likely to sign. Well we were there waiting at 645 and we did not get any of the big guys. We did get Trumbo but he was kind of shady and not sure of us. He did however sign a few cards but we never saw Hamilton come in, Trout drove in with Weaver neither signed, and Pujols drove in pretty early and didn’t sign either.

Morning walking into SRF

After waiting till 9, we decided to drive a few miles up the road to Salt River Fields at Talking Stick to watch the Rockies warm up. Well when we got there I realized that they probably would not be out to practice because they had a night game at home against the Padres. So after a while of looking around Jim Wirght the Rockies pitching coach came out and started to play catch with a pitcher. The pitcher then proceeded to have a pitching session which he looked really good. I’m not sure who it was but he was throwing hard and accurate.

I also ran into my buddy former pitching coach Bob Apodaca over on the minor league fields. I had been looking for him because I had his game used hat and a rookie card that I wanted to get signed. I has strolled over to the practice fields and ran into our former bullpen catcher Mark Strittmatter. He was very nice to talk to except for the fact that he is a jokester. Yes, I felt somewhat dumb but it was all in good fun and for a good laugh. Thanks Mark!

I finally found Dac and we talked for a while about life (he should be sitting at home in FL right now enjoying sometime at home), he told me that his new title is a Pitching Coordinator and he chose to work with the three lowest teams which are the Ashville Tourists, Tri-City Dust Devils, and Grand Junction Rockies. So he is still around but he said “he likes this more because it is more teaching which he likes to do.”

Tempe Diablo

After talking with Dac we headed back over to Tempe Diablo for the Brewers @ Angels game. On our way we stopped for Whataburger…. It was ok but wasn’t my forte. Once we got to the field there were close to a couple hundred people waiting to get in the gate, so we decided to park and wait a few minutes before we headed up to the gates. After we got our tickets we heard some people talking saying that they were almost sold out and that they only had $50 seats left. WOWZER!

IMG_2334 (480x640)

Wall at Tempe Diablo

Anyway we went into the game and stood on the wall until the big guys came out and signed. They waited till the last minute to come out and sign. There were so many people on the wall it was RIDICULOUS! Trout was closest to me and so was Hamilton and I didn’t end up getting anyone… Yes it sucked! I had 3 brand new baseballs ready to go and wouldn’t you know it I left with three brand new baseballs.

We went up and stood about home plate for a few innings when I decided that it was time to go.

We went back to the hotel and Jared and I took a quick nap then we headed to Salt River Fields for the Padres @ Rockies game.

IMG_2351 (640x480)

We got there relatively early and headed straight to the Rockies wall. It was pretty crowded but we ended up getting a good space. The players started to come out and most signed if you asked them too. Todd had signed a major part of the wall, Tulo I guess signed for a few, Michael Cuddyer signed for a few, and a lot of other players. I ended up getting 2 cards from Michael Cuddyer which is great because I pretty much do not need him the rest of the season! After I did not get Todd I headed to the Bullpen to talk with some of the pitchers. There JP and Ramon signed for some fans. I hollered at Ottavino and he came over and signed my jersey and helmet and talked with me for a few minutes. It was great to talk with him and get caught up. I also talked to Belsile and Nicasio while standing by the bullpen which was awesome! I’m not sure who has seen the new Rockies commercials but Matt Belsile in the Baby Bull one is HILARIOUS! I posted the link below to the video so you can watch it.

After we got graphs Mariano and I decided to stand above the bullpen and watch the game.

IMG_2349 (480x640)

Captain Earthman and Mariano

It felt like a homerun derby between the two teams and all I thought to myself was either its terrible pitching or great offense. For the Padres Nick Hundley, Kyle Blanks, and Cody Ransom all hit homeruns and for the Rockies Todd Helton, Wilin Rosario, Josh Rutledge, and Gustavo Molina. This was an awesome game because it was relaxing and really fun being in home territory. The Rockies ended up dominating and beating the Padres with a score of 10 to 4.

JP catching

This was our last night game and after snagging a few of the coaches on their way back in after the game we headed back to the hotel to pack.

I’m Blake St Babe and this was The Take: From Tempe Diablo and Salt River Fields.

Follow me on twitter @BlakeStBabe and please share the blog.

Also remember to read Day 2 blog and answer the question for a chance to win some signed memorabilia!

Thanks for a Horrifically Great Season

This is the last official blog this season! Yes it is late but playoffs are happening and I have been busy!

Going into the season I thought with the team that we had on paper we were going to go to the World Series, that was not the case. We went through a bunch of players but we finished the season on a winning note at home and hopefully everyone has a great off-season and we come back stronger next year. This blog though is dedicated to everyone this season who made it a great season. This goes for everyone who has read the blog, friends I have made at Coors Field, the players, and most of my job!

My final count 44 home games, 2 Rockie Road games, 3 Colorado Spring games, a Tulsa Drillers game, New Orleans zephyrs game, and 2 Atlanta Braves games. That Brings my grand total to 53 games this season! I’m pretty sure that is more than double what I went to last season!! That is a great accomplishment.

First people I want to give a shout out to is all the people I work with. If it wasnt for them and letting my schedule be so relaxed I wouldn’t have been able to go on my week-long trip and attend as many games and or batting practices!

Next people are all the friends that I met at Coors Field this season. Thanks to Rox Addict, EB, Rachel, Jared, Jersey Geoff, Tayna, Rockpile Ranter, Kevin and his wife, Smitty and Cass, Jon, Mariano, Gary X and A, and everyone else who made this season unbelievably awesome! With out you guys my blog wouldn’t have got to where it is today, games wouldn’t have been as fun, and we all hooked each other up with graphs and everything so it was nice to have people looking out for you! Also want to give a shout out to the Ushers that made this season awesome! I don’t think I need to name you because you know who you are!

The last people I want to thank are some of the players! This year was hands down the best interaction that some of us fans have had. Huge thanks to Jordan Pacheco, Josh Roenicke, Jeremy Guthrie, Josh Rutledge, Dexter Fowler, Charlie Blackmon, and Michael Cuddyer for taking a few minutes to do Random Rock Talk! You can find those by searching Youtube for Players name and Random Rox Talk. Also a huge thanks to Adam Ottavino, Chris Nelson, Carlos Torres, Jhoulys Chacin, Jorge De La Rosa, and Juan Nicasio for hanging out with us cool kids by the trash can! Thanks to the rest of the guys that also did Fowler and Friends like Eric Young Jr, Tyler Colvin, and Christian Friedrich! Alot of player interactions which def made this season better so thanks to every player that made that special connection! Wilin Rosario is the last because even if he doesn’t get voted Rookie of the Year he is th Baby Bull and I have his hat!

I think this is where I’m going to end it but looking at maybe going down to AZ for a weekend of Fall Ball and then making plans already for Spring Training. I have some big things coming up and hope that I can connect with some of the players to keep the blog moving.

Can’t forget my parents who supported me and let me do my own thing!!

I’m Blake St Babe and for this season this is The Take: From 20th and Blake

9/11 Fowler and Friends Along with Two Quick Games!

This is going to probably be a quick post but to start off with 9/11 is a day to remember and I feel that it is a day that the country does come together no matter what is happening in the world.  We will always remember 9/11/01.

This was also the last Fowler and Friends which was awesome because 1. it was at noon 2. the special guest was Carlos Gonzalez! I showed up early just to hang but it was cool to watch the people start to show up and get crazy for Cargo! We ended up only getting one thing signed but I had someone help me get a second item signed. So huge thanks to them!

After Fowler and Friends I headed back to work and then went to the game that night. I showed up for some of batting practice and scored 2 baseballs which were toss ups from the Giants. I ended up giving them away to little kids who thought it was the coolest thing in the world. Even though I really made their day, they made mine!

After we headed over to get graphs. We unfortunately didn’t get anything but that was ok! I did get a toss-up from the usher for the first warm up in the 1st inning. I ended up giving that to a friend Tifany who I work with that was at the game.

It was a very good game but we lost this one.

Idiocy Possibly Cost Rox the Game

Road Trip 2012

Day 4

 6/24

      Rockies @ Rangers (Game 3)

After winning one game and losing one game, the Rockies took on the Texas Rangers for the last game of the series. It was very unusual for me to see a night game played on a Sunday, but then again I enjoyed it because it was very hot that day. My Uncle ended up getting me and Rox Addict tickets for this game and we also had my cousin Kristi and her friend Blake attended the game with us. We showed up early so we could park and get in line to get into the stadium. Well wouldn’t you know it, if you are a season ticket holder you are able to go in before everyone else. They had a side gate which said “Season Ticket Holders” so we waked up they checked our bags and we were able to go inside! That was actually very cool and convenient! So we walked in and walked down to where ours seats would be at, and down to the third row behind home plate is where we ended up! AWESOME seats!

I then headed over to the third baseline where the Rockies pitchers were warming up again.  I had a bat and Locker tag with me, so I was trying to get that signed. I ended up snagging Josh Roenicke, Rex Brothers, Guillmero Moscoso and Josh Outman on both and Matt Reynolds on my bat since I had already had him on the locker tag.

While waiting for the players to come out and warm up we met up with Rachel, she has been down in Texas for a few weeks and hit up the game and stood with us. We both were sportin our Pacheco jersey which is awesome! The only person to sign was JP, yet again. So after the players opted not to sign we headed up and around to our seats.

We made it back to our seats for first pitch and wouldn’t you know we saw former President George W. Bush in the next section over and about 5 rows away!

He was sitting with President Nolan Ryan. I had never sat that close before and so being able to sit that close to watch my favorite team play my favorite AL team was awesome.

It was a good game except for the fact that the Rangers got on the board early. Alex White only lasted 3 2/3 innings and giving up the Rangers 4 runs.

Guthrie came in and replaced him.

The Rangers did not score anymore runs the rest of the game but neither did the Rockies till the 9th inning.  They had a great run and scored two runs before they got into a pickle. Eric Young Jr. was on second and Marco Scutaro was on first and they both went to steal a base. The pitcher had the ball and both runners just stopped. He ended up going towards first to get Scutaro (good choice), they both ran and both were called SAFE!! UNTIL Scutaro got up off the base and started walking toward first base, the second baseman tagged him out and all of a sudden there were two outs with one on and Jason Giambi still at the plate. Idiocy by Marco Scutaro by far, did it cost us the game??? Yes possibly because Jason Giambi struck out to end the game.

Poor base running and poor decisions is what is costing this team wins. Something needs to change and we need to find ways to win.

Overall it was a great game and we had a blast behind home plate. It would have been nice to get another win and take the series from Texas but I will take the one win since we had been getting swept in interleague play!

That’s a wrap for game 3 against Texas! Texas wins the series with a score of 4-2. Next Stop was New Orleans to see the Zephyrs play the Redbirds. I will have that posted soon!

This is what happens when you dont have to drive to the game!

Bats were HOT, Just Like the Weather

Day 3

6/23

Rockies @ Rangers

After we left Tulsa we headed to Dallas TX. After 5 hours of driving we finally made it to my aunt and uncle’s house. We unloaded the truck and headed in for some sleep before the day game at Arlington. We headed to the ballpark early to get tickets and to see if they had BP. No luck on BP but when we arrived we saw the Rockies relievers warming up so headed to the third baseline.

Walking back and almost into the dugout I snagged Adam Ottavino on a Cardinals card and later I got Rex on a card as well. It was awesome to be at an away stadium because some of the players actually recognized you. Matt Reynolds walked by and said Hey but the guy that made my trip was Alex White. He was going out to run and throw a few but on his way out he stopped and talk to me for a few and signed two cards for me and Rox Addict each. On his way back in he stopped and signed for some other people but stopped by us and gave me a ball. I was shocked and said thank you but it made my trip because I didn’t have to ask for a ball.

Not much later the starters came out and started warming up. Players that signed the one and only Mr. Jordan Pacheco (like always), Wilin Rosario, Chris Nelson, and Johnny Herrera. I was surprised because I thought we would have a better chance getting some of the big guys especially Jason Giambi. We ended up getting NONE of the big guys! Very disappointing.

So then we decided to head to our seats which were in Section 9 row 13. These were down the third baseline down by the foul pole.

We were defiantly in Rangers territory and there were not a lot of Rockies fans there. WE sat down and in the first inning Herrera stole two bases and ended up scoring to make it 1-0 Rockies.

We sat there for a little while then met up with Smitty from Rocknation and his wife Cassandra. We talked pretty much the whole inning then they headed to their seats and we decided to walk around, but we didn’t get far.

We saw the Rockies bullpen and decided to stand there the WHOLE game. It was a great decision because we got to see all the pitchers warm up and on that day it was a hot place for homeruns.

Nelson Cruz hit a homerun into the bullpen and Guthrie turned around and threw it to a Rangers fan… I was like WTH there are Rockies fans right behind you who would love this ball and you just give it up. Well the fan didn’t catch it and Ottavino had to grab it and throw it up to the fan again. He then started to stretch and looked up at me and I asked why he didn’t send it to me, he asked if I really wanted it and I said yes. So I said how about the next one that is hit into the bullpen and that it will be a Rockies homerun. So he shook his head ok. Not even an inning later Wil Nieves hit his first homerun as a Rockie and Ottavino looked up at me smiled, got the ball and threw it up to me. Boom! I was so excited and the adrenaline rush was awesome! I was excited that I finally got my first gamer and it was even better that it was a Rockies homerun!

We stood there and watched the Rockies DOMINATE and again play like the team that we know they can be! For the most part our pitching was very good except for a little hic-cup when the rangers came back with 7 runs. Very good game and it was just the cherry on the top to have the Rockies come out of it with a win!

Big thanks to Alex White and Adam Ottavino for making my day!

That’s a wrap for this game, I’m Blake St Babe and this is The Take: From The Ballpark at Arlington!

Rockies take this one 11-7, Next Rangers game post will be tomorrow or the Next day! We are on the road as I post this!

Headed to a Zephyers VS Redbirds game  tonight and then back on the road tomorrow morning headed to Atlanta.

B.O.O.B.S

6/10

Just wanted to start off by saying thanks for clicking on this rather it be for the content or for the fact that the title caught your eye!

All might wonder why I Changed my title but it stands for Bring Out Our Best Starters. Our pitching had been absolutely HORRIBLE and sorry to say but it needs to change to have a winning ball club!

Sunday was autograph Sunday and so you have to be there early to get a good spot in line. I met up with Eric (EB) and Rox Addict at Gate C which is down the first base line. While waiting Aspen Mike and his son were waiting to get in also. We found that the players signing would be Jhoulys Chacin, Ramon Hernandez, Wil Nieves, and Guillermo Moscoso. EB decided to head to Moscoso, Rox Addict went to Chacin, and I headed to Hernandez line. After I got Hernandez I went to Nieves and got him clean spot on a ball.

Rox Addict getting Chacin

Ramon Hernandez

Rox addict getting Wil Nieves

Wil again

After they were done with graphs we headed down to our normal spot on the wall. We waited for players to come out but with the little league parade we knew the chances of players signing would be very unlikely.

Me in my new shirt! Thanks 5280!

Pacheco, Nelson and Helton all came out together and started to warm up. JP saw my new I <3 JP shirt (that is bought from 5280 Shirt Shops). I got thumbs up and a big smile which made my day. He came over and signed a few cards for me and signed Jersey Geoff’s bat that he had bought that day! Big thanks to JP for signing for us!

JP signing Jersey Geoff’s bat

Brothers and Belisle headed to the bullpen

While they were warming up the other players who signed were Marco Scutaro, Tyler Colvin, and Carlos Gonzalez. I was in the wrong spot so I did not get any of them.

Warming up

We decided to hang out down the first base line and watched the game for a few innings.

Friedrich throwing out first pitch

Visit in the first inning

Squating pujols

The Angels were off to an early start by scoring 6 runs in the first two innings.

The Rockies made an unexpected run though in the first but mostly the second when they tied it up on a Carlos Gonzalez homerun. After 2 innings the score was tied at a six a piece.

Great shot of Cargo’s blast

After a single and a walk Friedrich settled down and got the three outs without giving up a run in the 3rd inning. The Rockies went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the third but all three batters broke a bat which was kind of cool.

Cuddy!

Mike Trout got hurt trying to catch Colvin’s homerun, no one was sure if it was a homerun or not until he got up without the ball!

In the 4th inning Mark Trumbo came up and hit a 3 run homer to put the angels up  9-3. Rockies came back and scored 1 in the 4th.

Josh Roenicke came in to replace Christian Friedrich in the 5th which he had a very strong inning. With the Rockies up they also did not score any runs. With Roenicke still pitching no runs scored in the 6th either. No Rockies scored in the bottom of the 6th. Both teams went quiet in the 7th as well. Score after 7 is still 9-3 Angels over Rockies.

In the 8th inning with Matt Belisle pitching the angels scored 1 run. The Rockies ended bats silent in the 8th inning. The 9th was a great inning for Betancourt who pitched and got three outs with the only three batters. The Rockies Came out running in the bottom of the 9th with a  double from Tyler Colvin then a single from Scutaro RBI single the next batter.  With no outs there was a very controversial play that ended in a double play and manager Jim Tracy was thrown out by HP umpire Greg Gibson. Next player up was Michael Cuddyer who singled (which would have scored another run) Helton was up and popped out to SS Erick Aybar and that was the game.

Overall Friedrich did not pitch like himself and Ervin Santana was not great either. It ended up being who had more offense behind them and unfortunately that was the Angels all weekend. It was a good weekend filled with baseball and still have half the year to go!

Went and stood outback after the game and the only one who stopped to sign was Matt Renyolds! Great guy and always nice to see a player take sometime and stop! Thanks Matty!

The road trip with Rox Addict starts 6/21 but we still have the Athletics series here at Coors before you leave on our adventure.

Come back and read next games post, we will see what title I will come up with then!

Astros Battled but the Rox Hold on and Take Two!

5/29/2012

What a day to remember! The day started off very early outback by the player parking lot. I did not expect to be down there at 9 but I thought I would go see who was there and if anyone was signing. By the time that I arrived most of the players were already there and the Astros bus had just pulled in. Since it was a Fireworks game the players were going in and dropping their cars off with the Valet and then the Valet was bringing their cars back out by the Chop House. Before we knew it the clock said eleven am and it was time for gates to open. Eric and I headed underneath and out to BP where the Rockies were not taking BP again but everything was set up so we knew that Houston would be out hitting eventually.

As the Astros started to hit we noticed that they were hitting Dodger 50th anniversary balls and Houston 50th anniversary balls also. So we were all trying to get one of each. Today was the day that I caught my first homerun BP ball on the fly! It was an adrenaline rush for sure and I knew from then it was going to be a good day and nothing could ruin it!

First ever BP homerun!

My friend Stephen also met up with me and he snagged a ball as well at BP which he says broke the curse of him never ever getting a ball!

Stephen and his ball

Todd & Tulo

LaMahieu

JP

The Deuce

Dex, Cuddy, Cargo, EY Jr, JP

They had a group of people enlist right on Coors Field!

After BP was over we headed to the wall but before we left Jersey Geoff had come over to me and told me that they were selling the purple hats that the players were wearing on the field that day.

Some might think that it is silly buying just a hat but these were purple hats. This was the first time that the Rockies had worn purple since the 2007 season when they went to the World Series. Another thing special about these was the fact that it was camouflage in the logo. So Jersey Geoff had told me that he bought JP’s, Fowlers, and EY Jr. So I went over when I got a chanced and ended up purchasing DJ LaMahieu. This was his first start with the Rockies and he kicked butt down in the springs so I thought it would be cool to get his.  Well truth be known we went back during the second game and found out that LaMahieu, JP, Rosario, and Giambi all kept their hats. Hmm so we had one of two options. Aaron was going to try to get us signed hats or we could pick someone else. I would like a signed hat but that wasn’t the point of the whole purple hat, so I ended up grabbing Bob Apodaca’s hat.

The beginning of the game we sat in left field which is never a bad seat! Here are a few pictures.

Todd

Cuddy

After purchasing the hat we stood above home plate and watched the rest of game 1.

Big Man

D Fowler

JP hitting 2 RBI single

The Rockies were tied with JP up to bat and two on. He blooped a single to center field and two runs scored! Rockies were up 7-9 in the bottom of the 8th. Rafael Betancourt came in for the 9th and closed it out 1-2-3! Rockies win game 1! Player of the game no other than Jordan Pacheco who went 2-5 in the day with 3 RBI’s and a run! AWESOME!

Between games I headed over Blake St Tavern with Rox Addict, Douglas, Robert, Judy, Michael and their friends.

It was nice to relax and get some substance in between games and just talk about more baseball. Before we knew it the game was about to begin and I totally forgot to get back to the field on time to watch Eric bring the flag out. My bad EB! Rox Addict, Douglas, and I all sprinted back to the field and got stuck in line.

Once we got inside we decided to go down to first base and see what we could get for graphs if anything. By the time we got down there the game was starting and we sat down in perfect time for first pitch!

White first pitch

We sat there for two innings then headed over to home plate. I left Rox Addict there and headed over to left field to sit with Eric.

While sitting there I met Chelsea and Matt. We laughed and talked the whole game!

The game was moving pretty fast until the 7th or 8th inning when Houston started changing pitchers left and right and that started to eat up time. By the 10th inning the score was still tied 6-6 and Rafael came in and held the Astros. In the bottom of the 10th we had Nieves, Cuddyer, and Fowler all up. Nieves grounded out but Cuddy singled on a line drive to left field. Then Fowler came up and hit a walk off Triple, Cuddy did not stop running, Cuddy scores Rockies win!

Holy moley I don’t think I have seen that place that ecstatic in a long time! Everyone was jumping and high-5ing it was just magical! Lodo magic had returned to Coors Field! The player of the game was Dexter of course with his walk off Triple in the bottom of the 10th!  WOW what a way to end an amazing night!

Soon after we headed down to the field to watch some fireworks!

I recorded the adventure down the field along with the fireworks for all of you that did not get the see them! (Trying to upload on to YouTube, once I do then I will post the links)!

All in all it was a god game the only graph that I got today was Will Nieves out back but that is ok, it was a great day!

The JUAN and Only

4/13/2012

This was the first night that Juan Nicasio took the mound since nearly being paralyzed on the mound against Washington last season. Juan’s story is absolutely amazing and truly inspiring. As I was watching the game I realized that this was a miracle, you can go on saying that Juan’s recovery has been unreal but usually people with these types of injurys never walk again. Congrats to Juan for making it back so soon and kicking butt while doing it!

Game started out like any other and that is with BP. I met up with Rox Addict and headed inside.

Multi-tasking is an understatement here

Weather still was not the best but it did not rain, just plain cold. As we walked into BP Guthrie and Chatwood were shaggin balls while Pomeranz was running.

Drew Pomeranz

BP was short for the Rockies but they did end up hitting a few out. The D-backs came out and had BP and were talking to one another, like always. They did give out a few but I did not snag ANY!

During BP I also met up with my friend Eric, we talked during BP and tried to get me a ball but didn’t work. Eric was then headed up to Rock Social, I stayed around and hung out for a few until Eric told me they were giving out shirts! Thanks to Eric, Rox Addict and I scored a free shirt! Thanks Eric and thanks Colorado Rockies!

After scoring our free shirt Rox Addict and I headed down to the bullpen. As we got down to the bullpen Bob Apodaca and Nicasio were walking out. Like I have said I’m pretty good friends with Bob, so I knew I had to talk to him.

Bob taking the picture for my Blog!

We talked for a few and he threw me a ball, FINALLY after three games of not getting any balls I got one! We talked for a little longer about everything including my birthday and I gave him one of my Blog cards. So Bob if you are reading this, thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I will come over and say hi to you on my birthday sober.

We then headed down to the wall to get graphs. As we headed down there were a lot of people on the wall already. I was not sure who was going to sign so I stood back and waited. Players who signed were Todd Helton, Troy Tulowitzki, and Michael Cuddyer.

Michael Cuddyer signing

I was going to try to get graphs but once people start pushing and shoving that’s when I step back and say “HECK NO!” Once they were done graphing we went and sat in some killer seats. You know who you are so THANK YOU!

During the first inning my camera died so I did get some pictures during the game on my phone but Rox Addict also took some pictures for me so thank you Rox Addict!

This was such a good game. It was a very close game offensively and when it comes down to it the better team is going to win and the Rockies came out and won it! All of the position players had hits and contributed to the win! Dexter got the team going with a homerun his first of the season so congrats to Dexter on getting that one out of the way.

I tell you though Deuce looked really good tonight, he was producing and getting hits. The only bad thing was that he has not been producing when we have others on base or in a critical situation. My advice, Go for a base hit it does not always have to be a homerun and have confidence!

Troy Tulowitzki at bat, thanks Rox Addict for the picture

I give mad props to Cargo also because I heard he was really sick but played though it and played very well.

Cuddyer, I cannot say anything bad about this guy. He has produced everyday and is a great leader for this ball club!

The man of the game though is Todd Helton. When we needed someone to produce with runner in scoring position Todd was there to do that!

Esmil pitched amazing!

Great job though by the pitching who came in and saved Nicasio! They played like a team that was united and that wanted to win, this is the team I personally knew we had! Winning Attitude, winning team it is simple!

Opening Day but Where Were the Rockies?

Monday started off early but I think that you know it is going to be a long day but totally worth it. I went to opening day with my dad but met up with the other Rantics for breakfast.

Rockpile, Rox Addict, Gary X, A, Dad, Douglas, and Jersey Geoff!

After breakfast at 20th St Café, we decided to walk down 20th to see what was going on. I was told the day before my Marc Stout that Dante Bichette would be signing at 11 am at the Maxx HD sunglasses tent.

We walked over and once we got there we checked out the games and got in line to get autographs from Dante. He showed up early and started to sign right away. I always wanted to meet him but never thought that I was going to get the chance. Well today was my LUCKY day! Dante was very nice signed multiple cards and signed a picture to me and my dad got a ball and picture signed to my mom who is a HUGE Bichette fan.

I had the nerve to give Dante my URL for my blog since my cards are not in yet. So Dante if you are reading this thank you so much for taking pictures with all of us, for signing for all of us, and for taking the time to read this! You Rox!

Then we headed to the Stadium, of course we had to take the picture of Coors Field but there were SOOO many people there it wasn’t even possible to walk around.

As we were walking I saw Purple Vader walking around and knew he would be a cool addition to my blog for opening day, sweet costume but man he must have got hot wearing that helmet.

We knew there would be batting practice so we headed inside. As we got inside we walked down underneath as always and it was like we never left.

Jersey Geoff and I

Going through the tunnel and being at the field Guthrie was standing there and signed for a guy down in the front row. I chatted with him for a while about his birthday (4/9) and that he pitched very well on Friday in Houston. Very nice guy that I feel will become a fan favorite.

Gary X

Rox Addict and A

After batting practice was over I headed over to the Rockies dugout with Rockpile and

Morning with Dinger

Rox Addict. When we arrived we saw Gary X and his Daughter A in their normal spots on the wall. This was both their first opening day so they were pretty excited to experience everything! Happy I could help!

I helped Gary get tickets on Saturday when the Rockies decided to sell Rockpile tickets with a raffle. Gary X, A, his wife, and I all went down and picked random wrist bands with 4 numbers on it. The first two were your row number 1-30 and second two was your placement in that line 0-99.

Here is what we came up with:

  • A: 0126
  • Amy: 0564
  • Betty: 2754
  • Gary X: 0470

All in all we thought we had pretty good numbers and felt like we had a really good chance in getting picked and being able to buy tickets. Well they did a raffle with the line numbers so they picked all the lines and that was the order you could buy tickets in until tickets ran out. First ball picked… 5! Heck yes, it was my lucky day so then it was waiting time to see if Gary, Betty, and A would be picked to buy tickets. A: 13th line picked, Gary: 2nd to last line picked, Betty: Last line picked. So I was the only one who was able to buy tickets but was a pal and hooked Gary X up since he hooked me up with an awesome logo! They got through 3 ½ lines before they ran out of tickets.

Deuce

So back to opening day! We waited for the players to come out but they came out a little late and no one signed. I did yell at Bob Apodaca he turned smiled and waved like always. I also yelled at Jordan Pacheco. I’m not sure if he knew it was me but he looked over and I waved with a big smile on my face and he smiled and waved back at me! Made my day!

View from my seats

Jersey Geoff and I decided walk around since no one was signing while they were warming up and they were about to start introductions so we headed up and headed back to my seats.

Introduction of number 22 Jordan Pacheco. Thanks Rox Addict for taking this picture!

I was standing above the bullpen and could not get a good picture except from the tv!

The game was not very eventful but Tulo was presented pregame with his Silver Slugger and Gold Glove awards which is not the second year in a row receiving those prestigious awards. Hopefully after this season we will have more guys receiving those along with Tulo. It was a difficult game to watch just because I hate to say it but they looked a little sloppy.

Matt Belisle

I have faith in this team and know that we can be an amazing team if we work together. I also feel that the pitchers should have more confidence in themselves, they know how to pitch and need to remember that they have some great defense behind them. They also need to get the bats going to get some runs on the board!

Rockies Bullpen

That is pretty much Opening Day in a nutshell, but if you have never experienced Opening Day then you should place it on your bucket list because win or lose it is one of the best experiences you will ever endure. This is where I’m ending it for now but next game is Wednesday 4/11 and then hitting up a sky sox game this coming weekend for their opening weekend! Giants win 7-0 and I hope this season won’t blow!

O by the way I’m waiting for my sign to get here to begin Random Rox Talk but it will be here soon so please leave me questions to ask!

I’m MLBgirl3802 that’s a wrap!

Don’t be afraid to say Hey to me at Coors Field, I love meeting new people and hey maybe you will be in my next blog!
