First Sky Sox Game but Not the Last

The Sky Sox opened up their season away but this last weekend they came home and opened here in Colorado. This was my first Sox game but not the last.

In February Rox Addict told me he won tickets to go see the Sky Sox. He told me he won on Facebook trivia. His question was who are the two Rockies that were back up quarterbacks to Eli Manning and Peyton Manning in college? Obviously we all know that is Seth Smith with Eli and Todd Helton with Peyton. So the next week I waited till 10 am and I waited for their next question.

My question was:  Rockies top prospect Nolan Arenado was born in 1991.  How many major league wins did fellow Rockies non-roster invitee, pitcher Jamie Moyer (turned 49 on 11/18/2011) have at the end of the 1991 season? I raced to get the answer 43 and when I looked you had to be one of the first two people to get the right answer. The first person to answer the post answered 0 and so I won!  This was a tricky question that could have been answered either way 43 was his overall number of wins and he did not have any in 1991.

Believe this is DJ

So Colorado Sky Sox sent me a vochure to redeem 4 box seats during Opening weekend. Rox Addict and I decided that we would turn them in on the same day and have all the Rantics go. Well come to find out everyone had plans and only Rox Addict, his mom Fran, and I went. We sat 5 rows from the field which was awesome for free seats.

When we got there we went looking for balls behind the field but did not get any. We then went and stood in line while waiting for gates to open. When they did open the give away was magnetic schedules! We snagged a few for us and a few extras for the Rantics.

As we went down to our seats Alex White came out to start warming up and signed autographs. I did get White on a ball and he pitched really well. Most of the team signed including Charlie Blackmon who just came back from the DL. He was so awesome he signed my card and wrote his twitter name. What a guy!

Those were the only few that I wanted and there were little kids there who wanted graphs more than me. It was a very good game and weather was a little cold but in a hoodie it was perfect. White pitched very well but defense was not there. The Sox did end up winning but I still feel that there is a lot of work to do offensively and defensively.

Sorry this is such a short post, but hope you enjoy. Hit up a Sky Sox game in Colorado Springs if you ever get the chance it is very relaxed and way more player accessible then Coors Field.

Thats it here next Rockies game tomorrow 4/17 against the Padres.
